4 Top Bridal Shower Themed Party Ideas

We girls love to party and when your best friend is about to tie the knot, why not throw her a fab bridal shower party and invite the girl gang to celebrate her special day ahead together? And if you’ve decided to throw her a party, then don’t forget to think long and hard about the kind of theme you would like to go with. Out of good suggestions? Don’t worry we share the top 4 bridal shower party themes you should know about this year:

Go Retro

If your best pal is a child of the 80-‘s or the 90’s, what better way is there to celebrate than by visiting that fabulous era where louder was better and bigger more beautiful? Flowery prints, gaudy cocktail rings, headbands, bobbed haircuts, Ray-Bans, trinkets and music that we once considered to be the best tunes on the planet- these are just a few of the ingredients that go into making a retro party. Oh, and don’t forget the speakers and finger foods too.

Yes to French

top bridal shower party

The French have always been a class apart when it comes to style and glamour, and there’s no reason why you can’t go all out with this bridal shower party theme too. We suggest going with soft shades like lavender, pink and yellow for a mellow and sweet effect. Since the French keep it classy, you should do and avoid overdoing the décor. For mini bites, why not indulge everybody’s sweet tooth and serve macaroons, French pastries, choux bites and classic French finger foods? You could even hand out mini pot pourri sachets as a thank you gift.

Slumber Party

top bridal shower party

Why does a party have to end within a few hours? Imagine how much more fun it would be if you could party all through the day and into the night with the bride and your girl gang! For a pyjama slumber party, we suggest including a fun class where you could all learn a skill or two, include a pillow fight (don’t forget to capture these memories of course!), have a meal at a fancy restaurant, hire a luxury car for the ride back home and enjoy a no hold barred dance party too. Celebrating with girls is the best send-off you could give the bride and that’s why this theme is one of the most popular bridal shower party themes around!

Bollywood Theme

top bridal shower party

Who doesn’t like the idea of becoming a celebrity for just one day? We think your friend would love it too. With a Bollywood theme, you can be forgiven for going all kitschy with the décor and for making it look like your home living room is just another Bollywood set. By putting up posters and other Bollywood paraphernalia, you set the mood. Don’t forget the cake- get a fondant model made of the bride walking down a red carpet, get party poppers, set out yummy finger licking Indian finger foods and of course, lots of music to get everybody on the floor.

What are your favourite top bridal shower party themes? Share them with us today!

The couple got married on August 28th August, 2016 in New Delhi. The talented team from Israni Photography has sent us the images which we are sure you will enjoy!

Bride and Groom: Mayank Gandhi & Hunar Hale. Mayank is a TV actor and also the winner of Splitsvilla Season 7. Here are the details of their wedding

23rd August – Hunar Hale and her mom and brother visited the Golden Temple to seek Waheguru’s blessings. She was also accompanied by Luv Israni and his team  and they shot a part of their wedding film at the location.

MaHiTheHeartBeat – A Film by Luvv Israni

A mother’s heart beats for her child but it is beautiful to see when that child itself becomes her heartbeat. That’s the tale of Hunar Hale a.k.a. Mahima. Though there is a sweet sorrow of a mother bidding goodbye to her daughter, the addition of Mayank Gandhi to the family has made it complete. Hunar’s mother fondly remembers the memories of childhood, cherishing the moments she had with Hunar. Hunar admits that they still have their mother-daughter fights but promises to stay by her mother’s side forever.

25th August -The entire day was dedicated for the pre-wedding shoot that was done by Luv Israni. They started off with the most prime location of our Capital city i.e. the India Gate and Rajpath. After lunch they headed towards the Kingdom of Dreams to shoot the remaining pre-wedding.

4 Unusual Wedding Trends Of 2016 That Are Still Going Strong

We are plagued with so much of information about weddings that sometimes it’s hard to decide those one or two crucial factors that will stand out nicely. Not surprisingly, many Indian brides, till recently, were happy to visit Pinterest boards and put together their dream wedding by sifting through heaps of wedding magazines. Today’s bride, however is more than willing to break away from the ingredients that make up the perfect traditional Indian wedding and is more than determined to have things her way! As with many trends that first see the light, they are usually spotted at multiple places before they are given a makeover or die a quiet death. Here are 4 unusual 2016 wedding trends that are still going strong:

 Metallic Glitter Everywhere

unusual 2016 wedding trends

We love our gold and metallic gold when used tastefully in wedding décor actually makes the wedding venue look super pretty. It’s not about going all out but mixing up shades properly so that you get a combination that looks attractive and is easy on the eye. For instance, a single gold dipped rose can be added to a small vase of real flowers. You could hold a gold clutch in your hand at the reception. Soft yellow lights or gold drapes can be used to highlight the stage décor. And if gold is too much for you, then switch over to copper or even silver for an unusual décor shade.

Eye-Tractive Cakesunusual 2016 wedding trends

Gone are the days when a wedding cake used to be appreciated for the way it tasted; today it’s all about the eye candy factor too. Bakers are having a gala time whipping up cakes that sometimes defy gravity and which are seriously too pretty to cruelly cut into. From cakes that have a geometric design, to cakes that have been inspired by real paintings to cakes which tell the couple’s love story- there’s no end to imagination. No wonder this unusual 2016 wedding trend is still going strong. And if all you want is a simple cake, then check out the semi-naked cake or the colour drip cake.

Smaller Guest List

unusual 2016 wedding trends

Sometimes the dream wedding is expensive to put together and the bills add up when a huge guest list is drawn up. One of the best ways to get the best of both worlds is by going with those elements that lend your wedding a personal touch (think candid photo booths, a dance party) while having only those people who truly matter around you. It’s a rather unusual 2016 wedding trends that many modern couples are quick to applaud given the fact that we Indians love huge weddings. Big crowds isn’t trending anymore!

Quirky Elements

Weddings are getting quirkier as couples want to give their guests something more to sweep them off their feet. Drone photography is still hot although we advise asking your photographer for the day to take responsibility for handling the drone. Photo booths and interactive stations are becoming more popular and allow better mingling and interaction between the guests. A dance party hosted by a popular celebrity or a DJ is another sure-fire way to get adrenaline pumping.

Wedding Website Dos and Don’ts

$

0

When it comes to creating your wedding website, things could get a bit confusing. From choosing its theme to the information to put on it, you might need to consider several points.  Welcome to one of the trickiest parts of wedding planning: the wedding website. Perhaps, you have seen stunning wedding websites made by other couples which seem oh-so-perfect in every sense. Now that it’s your turn, the task doesn’t look that easy. You just don’t know where to begin, and, more importantly, what to put on it. This article will help you out since we are considering some of the dos and don’ts of wedding website design and content that can make matter easy for guests and all those involved in the wedding.

Wedding Website Do’s

1. Do match it with your wedding theme

Make sure your wedding website matches your wedding theme. Say, you are planning a beach wedding or a royal-themed destination wedding in Udaipur or, maybe, even a big fat Bollywood-style wedding. If you design your website based on the same theme, your guests will get a clear idea about what to expect and prepare for it.

2. Do password protect it

Don’t want wedding gatecrashers? Then password protect your wedding website at all possible costs. If that’s not possible, at least make sure nothing important is left accessible for public. From website URL address to your address or phone number, keep all the information protected from public view.

3. Do give route map and other instructions

All your friends and family abroad are going to go through your wedding website to seek necessary information (the directions to the venue and so on.) So put down the necessary information on the site with easy navigation.

4. Do recommend places to visit

Your friends abroad would be at your wedding venue for a week or two. It will help them if you can suggest a few interesting places to visit during their stay when time permits.

5. Do keep it simple yet informative

Above everything else, try to keep your website as simple as possible. Go for easy User Interface and keep the site light. Use bright colours, interesting (but not weird) fonts and information that would serve your guests’ interests.

Wedding Website Don’ts

1. Don’t mention exclusive events

If your hen party or sangeet or haldi is not for everyone invited then it’d be wise to not include it in the website.

2. Don’t forget to include a timeline

Yes, a wedding website without a proper timeline hardly means anything. Try and create the timeline after excluding the exclusive private parties and upload it.

3. Don’t overdo anything

Whatever information and functionality you are going to use in your website, make sure to maintain a balance. The last thing your guests would like to see a website overstuffed with content and suggestions.

4. Don’t post too many pictures

Try not to bombard your guests with thousands of pictures starting right from those early dating days.

5. Don’t make it a travel website either

While recommending a few places to visit, don’t get carried away and end up making your wedding website more like a travel site.

10 Of The Best Wedding Songs 2016

Bollywood has always given us some of the best songs to play during our pre and post wedding events. If you and your fiancé want to ensure everyone parties hard during your Mehendi/Sangeet night then the following best wedding songs 2016 list will cover you. Oh yes, we have done all the research for you, so you don’t have to. Below are 10 of the latest Bollywood hits that will bring a smile on your guests’ faces.

1. Kaala Chashma

The movie Baar Baar Dekho might have bombed at the box office but this song from the movie has become quite popular. Kaala chashma is believed to have totally wasted Katrina’s dance talent but, we feel, this super sexy dance number is bound to be a sure-fire hit at  2016-17 weddings.

2. Beat Pe Booty

This song from the Flying Jatt literally broke the Internet when the hashtag #BeatPeBootyChallenge surfaced a few weeks ago. Tiger Shroff has worked really hard during the making of this song and the his viral video proves it.

3. Baby Ko Bass Pasand

This song from the movie Sultan is the perfect Haryanvi wedding song and you could even copy Anushka and Salman’s cool moves.

4. Zing Zing zingat

Marathi movie watchers will love this fast and energetic number from the super-duper hit film Sairat. It is ideal for getting the party started or for getting your guests dancing into the wee hours of the morning!

5. DJ Waale Babu

DJ waale Babu –Mera ganaa chala do was the grooviest number heard in 2015 weddings and the trend is going to be continue in the 2016 wedding scene as well. And why shouldn’t it? After all; the song comes from the Badshah of hits like Selfie Le Le, Saturday Saturday and so on.

6. Toh Dishoom

Your bachelor or hen party is likely to get maximum requests for this number all night! Sung by Raftar and Shahid Mallya, this peppy sequence from the movie Dishoom is reminiscent of Yo Yo Honey Singh’s popular though meaningless raps.

7. Nachenge Sari Raat

Yami looks gorgeous in this song which has been rendered perfectly by Meet Brothers. It is a foot tapping peppy number your guests will appreciate.

8. Bezubaan Phir Se- ABCD 2

This song, unfortunately, did not garner as much attention as its earlier part from ABCD 1 but many dance experts swear by this number and so should you if you want your guests to have an awesome time at your pre-wedding functions.

9. High Heels Te Nachche – Ki & Ka

Another Punjabi number by Yo Yo, this song is bound to be popular in weddings across the country.

10. Kar Gayi Chull- Kapoor & Sons

This song is being called the ‘Craziest party song of the year’ and we agree! The best part is that the dance steps for this routine can be very easy and anyone, and we mean anyone, can dance to it!

We hope you enjoy these 10 dance songs for 2016 weddings. Know any other dance song we missed? Let us know!

5 Things That Could Gross Out Your Woman!

$

As a guy, how involved should you be or rather shouldn’t be in your own wedding preparations? Brides love to point out that while they usually take on the responsibility of planning the wedding on their shoulders, the groom whom they plan to spend their whole life with, is rarely seen on the scene at all. While your intentions may be good (bridezillas can be scary to deal with!), it’s good to spare a moment to think about what your bride is possibly thinking about you. So, we’ve compiled a short list of a few things we think could seriously gross out your fiancée before the wedding actually takes place:

1. Hands- Off the Wedding Preparations

It’s your wedding too and imagine how silly it would look if you complained about any aspect of the wedding after it’s over and the guests have gone home. We suggest pitching in. And no, you don’t necessarily need to start going shopping for wedding décor, but you can take over one or two aspects of the wedding planning on your own. For example, create a playlist for the DJ to spin at the reception or give suggestions on the catering menu.

2. Not Spending Time With Her

The period just before the wedding is usually the best time to know more about the girl you are going to marry. Using this time to talk about common interests, go for workouts together or simply hanging out with friends in public is a great way to spend time with her. Don’t kill off the romance just before it’s started and don’t assume that every time she asks you if you can take her to see a movie, it is because she wants you to spend money on her.

3. Presenting The Wrong Gifts

Unless your girl has specifically stated what she likes and what she doesn’t, getting your fiancée the right gift before marriage can be daunting. Even if you have an idea about her hobbies, it’s still possible to make huge mistakes. For example, your fiancée may be a bookworm who would appreciate a thriller or two but may not take kindly to being presented with a book that talks about losing weight or how to gain more self-confidence. There’s nothing a girl dislikes more than being given the wrong gift by a guy she sees as her future husband.

4.Making Fun of Her Loved Ones

Seriously, unless you’re trying to call off the wedding at all costs, stay away from making fun of her family members and best friends. There’s no way she will ever forgive you for that! Imitating a family member or a dear friend of hers in the hope that she will laugh at your joke, is guaranteed to be a washout. What you may get in return is a cold stare, a colder shoulder and plenty of unanswered calls. So, don’t gross her out in this manner.

5.Teasing Her in Public

Most women have their quirks when it comes to feeling 100% confident about themselves. And if you know, that your fiancée has an issue with a certain part of her body, a habit or something else about her person, it’s important to support her and make her feel good about herself. Do not bring up a sensitive topic of this nature in front of friends or relatives. And don’t gross her out by making a joke about something she feels touchy about!

How to Plan Your Wedding Transportation Flawlessly – 9 Important Tips

$

0

When we talk about wedding planning, we mostly discuss the dress, food, jewellery, mehndi, decor, venue, guests and even the best wedding songs but often leave aside one of the most significant factors: the wedding transportation. After all, you and your guests need to reach the venue on time. This will only be possible if you plan your wedding transportation meticulously and flawlessly. The last thing you’d want is a glitch that could lead to utter chaos. Ensure a smooth and timely walk down the aisle by following the tips given below…..

Tips to Plan your Wedding Transportation Flawlessly

1. Choose the right transportation

Think about everyone who will be accompanying you in the car. Decide the number of guests before you even decide the car’s make and model. Choose a car roomy enough to accommodate all your family members, friends and even the wedding photographer, in case you want some shots on the way to the venue.

Wedding Transportation

2. Estimate the cost

Once the number of people accompanying you is sorted out, estimate the total renting cost. Usually, car rentals charge on an hourly basis. So, you need to have a rough estimation of that and figure out the budget. Include waiting time as well as parking fees. Look for a car hire service that suits this budget.

3. Choose the right service provider

Next comes the most important part of planning your wedding transportation. Choose a company for your wedding transportation that has a good reputation for providing absolute punctual service consistently for years. Their service needs to suit your budget as well.

4. Book the car in advance

Book at least six months in advance to avoid disappointments as well as higher charges. In fact, as soon as the wedding date has been fixed, try to book all the cars you will need for the day. If your wedding date is in season then booking your wedding transportation way in advance would indeed be a wise decision.

Cineyug Celebrations

5. Arrange transportation for your guests

Do consider your family and friends who would be joining you at the wedding venue. Estimate the total number and book several vehicles accordingly. If you really have a huge number of guests to take care of, go for charter buses or mini vans.

6. Book in person

Make sure that you always book your wedding transportation in person. Reason behind this is to check the car and its condition before you book it.

7. How much advance to pay?

Pay a small token amount rather than 30% of the payment. This helps in case you need to cancel the booking. You might need to negotiate this with the vendor.

Wedding Transportation

Memory Crafters

8. Plan about the waiting time

Minimum of 20 to 30 minutes of waiting time per trip should be added to the transport time estimates. This should also cover the traffic wait times so that you arrive on time at the venue.

9. Read the contract well before sealing the deal

From the payment details and cancellation policy, advance amount to pay as well as refunding- read the contract thoroughly before you sign on the papers of your wedding transportation.

Manish is famed for his embroidery and zardosi work so it was only natural that a work of intricate thread work would feature in his 2016 collection at the Lakme Fashion Week. With a deep shade of navy blue and a contrast of beige, this one will make any bride look regal.

For brides who like a little bit of the fancy, we suggest the navy blue capes on flowy gowns which add just the right amount of drama to any occasion. Perfect for the festive season too.

Not every bride wants to go all out with a festive look. That’s why Manish debuted this pretty western gown which has just one accessory to add the right touch of sparkle.

Looking for another pretty contrast where the colour gold takes centrestage? We predict that this Lakme Fashion Week look is going to be a big hit this Diwali.

We heart the way this cropped off shoulder top in all its shimmer and glitter goes beautifully with the muted baby pink lehenga skirt with embroidery. Just the right pick for the reception wear, we think.

We also loved the products she used: Mac ,Krylon , Bobbi Brown & Inglot ….

In the beginning, I was expecting a “typical” bridal look……but when I got a makeup trial from her  I was amazed at how unique and beautiful and flawless I looked! I would definitely recommend Sanjana -top Mumbai based makeup artist-to every bride looking for a flawless, princess bride look for her wedding!

Caricatures – The Perfect Way To Send A Personalized Wedding Invitation!

Couples looking for an innovative way to send unique and personalized wedding invitation cards will love the idea of Caricatures. Today, weddingsonline is throwing the spotlight on Graphic designer artist Mekala Murali who started designing bespoke invitations 5 years ago. Mekala is the founder of Pathrika, a Chennai based designing firm which helps couples to be realize their vague ideas for personalized wedding invitation card into reality.

Says Mekala:

” It is fascinating to see how couples-to-be are comfortable not only in having their faces on their wedding ivitation cards but also open to a funny take on that. At Pathrika, we normally try to overlay the caricatures on a background, which shows a glimpse of the couples’ personalities. It could be something they like to do together, or a special moment from their relationship so far or even the places that they belong to. I feel that the whole effort of personalized card should be used to the fullest extent and any value add which is aesthetically appropriate and visually appealing should be on the invite.

The card below was done for a couple (Gitanjali and Punit) who were quite different from each other. So we made the central illustration a quick caricature of the 2 of them and on each of their sides, little doodles explained their opposite character traits.

wedding invitation cards

The invitation below was designed for a couple (Vaishnavi & Venkat) who loved to travel, hence a post card. All the special places they had been to were made into little stamps. Quick doodles explained what was special about these places. The main caricature was a simple yet detailed looking vintage illustration.

wedding invitations with caricatures of bride and groom

This invitation below was done for a couple (Nina & Abhijit) who were both from New York. They were getting married in Bangalore and the reception was being held in New York. I did this breezy and elegant caricature of the couple riding a bicycle.

wedding invitations with caricatures

This invitation was done for a fun couple who wanted a funny and quirky caricature on the card. (Padmashree & Rakesh)Indian wedding invitations with caricatures

This couple wanted a caricature card done for their save-the-date invite. We charted down their relationship like a quick pictographic essay. They wanted caricatures done for the main invite, which also had to be very formal and rich. So caricatures were done for the individual events, which turned out beautifully!

wedding invitation cards with cartoons and caricatures

A very traditional caricature was done for this couple (Rahul & Sripriya) who met and fell in love in Singapore. So the background had landmarks of Singapore while the main illustration was that of the couple dressed in traditional wedding attire.

wedding invites with caricatures

The options are endless if we choose to do a caricature invitation for your friends and family. Apart from instantly making it personal it also adds an element of fun in the card, which is widely appreciated by the young and old alike nowadays. And if you need a little more detail, call me and together we can figure it out!”

Mekala Murali is an Indian designer and illustrator with 10 years of experience working in the design industry. She runs the online boutique, Pathrika, which specializes in bespoke wedding invitations. Hand drawn illustrations and unexpected colour schemes are her forte.
